Consequence addresses the human consequences and realities of war and geopolitical violence through literature and art, offering intellectual and emotional access to the experiences of combatants, victims, and witnesses. They provide the public with works and voices from around the world to promote a clearer and more nuanced understanding of what’s at stake in choosing to wage war or engage in conflict. Their vision is to foster a comprehensive global awareness of the human consequences of war and geopolitical violence.

We are after work of high literary quality that addresses our themes. We also recognize that there is a wide range of work related to these themes, so in addition to the traditional perspectives and expereinces of war and geopolitical violence, we are also interested in works from writers and artists with less-traditional perspectives or who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, or from any other under-represented community. Our goal is to create an inclusive and comprehensive conversation surrounding these topics.
