Author's Bio

Sheree La Puma Watson is a writer of short fiction, poetry, historical non-fiction and crime novels. She has published in most genres and has worked at the L.A. Weekly as a music editor along side Mikal Gilmore, who later became the editor of Rolling Stone and wrote the book "Shot Through The Heart" about his older brother Gary Gilmore. He also produced a documentary on the subject. She has a MFA in critical studies/writing, from The California Institute of the Arts, the school that Walt Disney founded. While there she was mentored by writers such as Steve Erickson, who wrote eight novels and also two books about American politics and popular culture, which were published in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Greece, Russia and Japan. Peter Gadol, who earned his B.A. at Harvard College and is the author of six novels. Jon Wagner, who after graduate work in comparative literature and creative writing, completed a PhD in Critical Studies from the School of Cinema-Television at the University of Southern California and helped establish the MFA Writing Program at CalArts with Dick Hebdige in 1994 and served as associate director of the program from 1996 to 2002, when he assumed directorship through Spring 2005. Studies. Sheree is currently researching a true crime book about a relatively recent murder in Los Angeles that occurred in an upscale neighborhood when two teenage boys brutalized a well known homeless artist that was living in the park and surviving off the proceeds from his work.

Merit scholarship at CalArts for the 2002-2003 year. Merit scholarship for 2003-2004 year CalArts. Deans list while at CSUN. She also taught Animation and Claymation to grade school children. Worked for the Community Arts Partnership, (CAP) as a Poetry Teacher for teens at St. Elmo Village, an artist in residence community in the inner city in Los Angeles. Taught theatre to teens living in group homes. Wrote, produced and directed a play "The Boy That Was All Used Up," at the the Road Theater Company in Noho.
