Each year, P&W honors three writers with the Barnes & Noble Writers for Writers Awards and an editor with our Editor's Award. The awards are presented at Poets & Writers’ annual dinner, In Celebration of Writers, the organization’s largest fundraising event, which is held in New York City, and attracts luminaries from the arts, publishing industry, and media. Funds raised support Poets & Writers’ programs for writers.
The 2011 dinner was held on Wednesday, March 2, at Capitale. The benefit chair was Michael Morrison, President and Publisher, HarperCollins U.S. General Books and Canada, and the event earned a record breaking $475,000. The Writers for Writers Award was presented to Maria Mazziotti Gillan, John Grisham, and Elizabeth Nunez. The Editor's Award was presented to Jonathan Galassi.
