I am the author of the bestselling novel, The Shape of What Remains (released February 18, 2025). It is a story about long grief and I'll be on a book tour for much of the 2025. Creativity is an antidote to despondancy. My workshops and mentoring relationships are spontaneous and fluid. I help writers and would-be writers to become better observers. After decades of working with children and adults in both an arts high school and a university, I've developed many unique strategies. I'm happy to work with seniors, adults, teens, children, and educators, and I can travel for readings or workshops, particularly anywhere near the ocean. My second collection of fiction, Impossibly Small Spaces was published in summer of 2018. I have five published collections of poetry, including the collection, Interrogation of Morning (2022) and two chapbooks. I publish in both Ireland and the United States and have done many events for Irish-American groups, libraries, community centers, senior centers, high schools, and private schools. I started teaching for writers.com online during Covid and I offer both poetry and fiction classes for writers of all levels. I can be contacted through my web site. I am the co-director of the Mesa Verde Writers Conference www.mesaverdewritersconference.org [2] and there will be a brand new Mesa Verde Literary Festival this year on July 12, 2025 in Mancos, Colorado. Over 50 writers from around the country will be joining us to offer panels, workshops, and readings. There will be a keynote speaker at night. All events are free. July is a beautiful time to visit this mountain town. The conference is over half-full at this writing so register early if you are interested. The conference is July 10 and 11 (Thursday and Friday), also in Mancos, Colorado. Breakfast and lunch are included in the registration fee of $425.
