Bio: 

I am a poet, playwright, librettist and non-fiction writer. I am best known for my method of leading creative writing workshops, described in Writing Alone & With Others, and for How the Light Gets In: Writing as a Spiritual Practice, both from Oxford University Press. I am founder/director emerita of Amherst Writers & Artists, www.amherstwriters.com [2], which offers trainings in my workshop method, and coordinates chapters of workshop leaders worldwide. Grants from the National Endowment and Massachusetts Cultural Council for our work with under-served populations. I have not sought prizes, but I have given birth to four of them, all writers, named Rebecca, Laurel, Paul and Bethany Schneider.
