Collateral is an online literary journal run by volunteers who are directly and indirectly impacted by violent conflict and military service. It showcases high-quality poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art that explores those spaces beyond the combat zone, where the “collateral” effects of war are felt for generations.

We want poetry, creative nonfiction, fiction, and visual art that pushes the boundaries of exploring the impact of war from a range of perspectives. Our mission is to publish work that puts a spotlight on all those spaces beyond the combat zone.
