The program offers full funding. The program offers teaching assistantships, program assistantships, positions with Mid-American Review, and fellowships.

Other Features: 

The program features the College of Arts and Sciences Reading Series [4]. Second-year students have the opportunity to teach creative writing; first-year students teach general composition. Graduate students also have the opportunity to propose panels and workshops for the annual Winter Wheat Festival of Writing, held every November.

Poets and writers including Madison Smartt Bell; Fred Chappell; Bernard Cooper; Stephen Dunn; Stuart Dybek; Albert Goldbarth; William Goyen; T. R. Hummer; Susan Ludvigson; Naomi Shihab Nye; A. Poulin, Jr.; Alberto Rios; Richard Russo; William Stafford; Jean Thompson; Chase Twichell; Lee Upton; David Foster Wallace; C. K. Williams; and Eleanor Wilner have published in Mid-American Review.

The Literature in English Advance Test of the GRE is not required for admission to the program.
