The program offers full funding. All students receive full teaching assistantships. The program also offers several merit-based annual awards, including the Hemingway Fellowship in fiction, Hogue Family Scholarships, and Grace Nixon Scholarships.
The program offers intensive workshops, traditions seminars, and techniques studios in poetry, nonfiction, and fiction, as well as a year-long novel-writing course. The faculty is made up of teaching artists, working writers who publish in multiple genres. The community is close and supportive. The program also invites an acclaimed writer each semester to teach a week-long master class as Distinguished Visiting Writer. Among the fellowships offered, Writing in the Wild retreats send students and their writing projects to research stations deep in the Northwest’s mountain wilderness areas.
