Two prizes of $1,500 each and publication by University of Massachusetts Press are given annually for a book of poetry and a book of fiction. In poetry, the award alternates yearly between first and subsequent books. For this year’s prize, only poets who have not published a book-length collection may submit a manuscript of 50 to 70 pages. Fiction writers may submit a short story collection, a novel, or a novella of 150 to 350 pages. For both prizes, the entry fee is $25, and the deadline is September 30.
