A prize of $1,500 and publication in Salt Hill Journal is given annually for a work of fabulist fiction written in the vein of Italo Calvino. The winner, if he or she resides in the 48 contiguous states or Washington, D.C., will also receive an all-expenses-paid trip to read at the annual Louisville Conference on Literature and Culture. Charles Barnwell Straut and Michael Wood will judge. Submit up to 25 pages of a short story, a short story collection, a novel, or a novella with a $25 entry fee by October 15.
