Editorial Focus

Mayapple Press is a small literary press founded in 1978 by poet and editor Judith Kerman. They focus on literature not often celebrated by either the mainstream or the avant-garde. This includes poetry which is both challenging and accessible; women’s writing; Great Lakes/Northeast literature; the immigrant experience; science fiction poetry; Jewish literature; and poetry in translation.

Tips From the Editor

We only accept unsolicited submissions during our open periods, which are generally in summer but not every year. Please watch our Submissions page for open periods, and then submit using Submishmash, our online submissions program. Please do not submit except during open periods. We do not accept hard-copy or email submissions, although email queries are fine.
