Author's Bio

Robert Aquinas McNally is the author or coauthor of ten books of nonfiction as well as four poetry chapbooks and one full-length collection. His poems have appeared in a long list of anthologies and journals, and five times they have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. A member of Authors Guild, National Association of Science Writers, Native American Journalists Association, and Western Writers of America, McNally wanders, wonders, and writes in Northern California.

2018 California Book Award gold medal in the Californiana category by the Commonwealth Club of California for "The Modoc War: A Story of Genocide at the Dawn of America's Gilded Age." 2018 nonfiction finalist in Northern California Book Awards for "The Modoc War." 2016 category finalist, Eric Hoffer Book Awards, for "Simply to Know Its Name." 2014 Grayson Books Poetry Prize, for "Simply to Know Its Name." Finalist, 2014 Brittingham Prize. Finalist, 2014 Sixteen Rivers Press competition. Finalist, 2014 Liam Rector First Book Prize for Poetry. Finalist, 2014 Marsh Hawk Press Poetry Prize.
