Antiguan and Barbudan author Joanne C. Hillhouse is the author of Lost! A Caribbean Sea Adventure, Musical Youth - which placed 2nd for the 2014 Burt Award for Young Adult Caribbean Fiction and is, as of 2018, on schools readings lists in Antigua and Barbuda and Trinidad, Oh Gad! - a 2014 Weekend Reads pick on NPR, The Boy from Willow Bend - which is on the schools' reading list in Antigua and Barbuda and Anguilla, Dancing Nude in the Moonlight - a 10th anniversary edition of which was released in 2014, and With Grace (a Caribbean Fairytale). She has also been published in numerous journals and anthologies including New Daughters of Africa sequel to the seminal global publication Daughters of Africa, critically acclaimed Pepperpot: Best New Stories from the Caribbean and award winning Letter for My Mother - both released in 2014. Her characters have been described as "believable and complex" and their stories "compelling". Her writing is said to be "descriptive and poignant", and "powerful and honest"
