Author's Bio

Maryann Corbett lives in St. Paul, Minnesota. She holds a doctorate in English from the University of Minnesota with a specialization in medieval literature and linguistics and has retired after almost 35 years of working for the Minnesota Legislature. She is the author of four full-length books of poetry--Breath Control (David Robert Books, 2012), Credo for the Checkout Line in Winter, (Able Muse Press, 2013), Mid Evil (University of Evansville Press, 2015), and Street View (Able Muse Press, 2017)--as well as three chapbooks. Her poems, essays, and translations have appeared in 32 Poems, Barrow Street, Southwest Review, River Styx, Atlanta Review, Rattle, The Evansville Review, Measure, Literary Imagination, The Dark Horse, Mezzo Cammin, Linebreak, Subtropics, and many other journals in print and online, as well as Poetry Daily, Verse Daily, American Life in Poetry, The Poetry Foundation, The Writer's Almanac, and an assortment of anthologies, including Best American Poetry 2018. Her poems have been shortlisted for Best of the Net, the Morton Marr Prize competition, the Able Muse Book Prize, and the Howard Nemerov Sonnet Award, and have won the Lyric Memorial Award, the Willis Barnstone Translation Prize, and the Richard Wilbur Award.
