Into the Teeth of the Wind

Into the Teeth of the Wind is a student-run journal sponsored by the College of Creative Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. While we accept great work of any kind, we are particularly receptive to poems about people, poems concerned with identity, weird poems, and poems that take risks with form.

iO: A Journal of New American Poetry

iO: A Journal of New American Poetry is a quarterly journal of new American poetry. We don't subscribe to a particular theme or aesthetic, rather we publish top-quality work across a range of styles. In the spirit of serving younger poets, we publish up-and-coming voices alongside established authors in each issue. iO also publishes book reviews and author interviews.

Iodine Poetry Journal

We are interested in both emerging and established poets. We like poetry of almost any style, including formal poetry (e.g. pantoum, sestina), as well as some experimental. We will publish one final double issue in 2016, then cease print publication.

The Iowa Review

We select most of our content from the several thousand unsolicited manuscripts that arrive each year from throughout the country and abroad. We take our mission to be nudging along American literature, to be local but not provincial, to be experimental but not without love for our literary traditions. Although you may find writers already familiar to you in most of our issues, you will surely find others who are not. Discovering a new and compelling writer, one we'd never heard of before but whose writing comes through to us--that still seems the magic of our work.
