The LBJ: Avian Life, Literary Arts

The LBJ, published semiannually, is dedicated to creative writing and birds. Its title is drawn from the term “little brown job” or “lbj,” used by birders, at once dismissively and affectionately, when struggling to identify a sparrow-like individual in the field. The LBJ, also known as the literary bird journal, celebrates these non-nondescripts and other avians in contemporary literature. The journal publishes creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, narrative scholarship, literary journalism, and book reviews.

The Letters Page

The Letters Page literary journal is published by the University of Nottingham School of English, and edited by writer in residence, Professor Jon McGregor. We’re interested in exploring what letter writing means to people - and has meant since writing was invented - in their literary cultures and their personal lives. We’ll be publishing essays, memoir, fiction, travelogue, reportage, poetry, criticism, interviews… any creative form of writing, so long as it comes to us framed as a letter.

Levantine Review

We welcome articles, reviews, op-eds, poetry, fiction, art, photography, essays and interviews that reflect our mission of broadening perspectives on the Middle East and North Africa in the media and the public eye, and promoting peace through a focus on the arts and culture—on creative and intellectual work that broadens the discourse between “east” and “west.” While, generally speaking, the Levantine Review addresses the Arab/Muslim world both in the MENA and diaspora, we also include the many minority cultures that are part of the region.
