Author's Bio

John Chávez received an M.F. A. from New Mexico State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His poems have appeared in Alice Blue, Anti-, Copper Nickel, Diode, Notre Dame Review, Palabra, Poet Lore, Portland Review, Puerto del Sol, Tusculum Review, Zone 3, among others. In 2009, he was the recipient of the Letras Latinas Residency Fellowship, a literary fellowship supported by the Institute for Latino Studies at the University of Notre Dame and The Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Redwing, MN. His collection City of Slow Dissolve was published by University of New Mexico Press' Mary Burritt Christiansen Poetry Series in 2012 and won the Gold Medal for Poetry in the 2013 Independent Publisher (IPPY) Book Awards. He lives in Denver, CO.
