The program is a sequential MA/MFA program; students must complete their MA in creative writing before enrolling in the MFA program.

Students attend two eight-day residencies each year in January and June at the Wilkes University campus.

The program offers concentrations in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as playwriting and screenwriting.

The application deadline for the January residency is December 15 (December 1 to be considered for a Graduate Assistantship); the deadline for the June residency is May 15 (May 1 to be considered for a Graduate Assistantship).
