Editors at the independent poetry press Wave Books recently announced that they will host a three-day poetry event in Seattle at the University of Washington’s Henry Art Gallery. Slated to run from August 14 to 16, the festival will feature readings, film screenings, exhibitions, discounts on poetry books at fourteen local bookstores, and, according to the organizer’s Web site, wild blackberry picking.

Among those scheduled to read are poets Noelle Kocot, Eileen Myles, Geoffrey Nutter, Matthew Rohrer, Dara Wier, Rachel Zucker, and Wave editors Joshua Beckman and Matthew Zapruder. The event will also include a presentation on book arts by Sandra Kroupa, the Book Arts and Rare Book Curator in Special Collections at the University of Washington, as well as art exhibitions drawn from the Henry Gallery’s collection.

Festival events will be held at the Henry Auditorium, with smaller readings taking place in the James Turrell Skyspace, an art installation unveiled in 2003. A limited number of tickets are priced at seventy-five dollars (fifty dollars for students). Ten scholarships to attend the festival are also available. More information is available on the Wave Books Web site.
