Susan is currently Writer in Residence at Forbes Library, the public library in Northampton, where she runs writing rooms, discussion groups and workshops for writers, and curates a Local History/Local Novelists reading series. She is also a freelance writing coach and editor. Susan’s newest novel, Spider in a Tree, will be published in 2013 by Small Beer Press. Spider in a Tree is about eighteenth century preacher Jonathan Edwards, his family, and those enslaved in his household in Northampton, MA, a town he made famous for piety before its people rejected him. She speaks on literary and historical topics such as researching a novel, and also on issues related to body size.
