Stephanos Papadopoulos

Author's Bio

Stephanos Papadopoulos was born in North Carolina in 1976 and raised in Paris and Athens. He is the author of "Hotel-Dieu" (Sheep Meadow Press, 2009) and "Lost Days" (Leviathan Press, UK and Rattapallax Press, NY, 2001) His work appears in journals such as The New Republic, The Yale Review, Poetry Review, Stand and numerous international journals and anthologies. He has read his work at festivals around the world including the Fundacion Neruda in Chile, Crossing Borders Festival, Amsterdam, The Universities of Athens, Heidelberg, Milan, Oxford, Diego Portales and Chapel Hill, North Carolina among many others. He has translated works of Greek poets, Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke, Yiannis Ritsos and Kostas Karyotakis. His own work had been translated into Greek by Katerina Anghelaki–Rooke and into Italian by Matteo Campagnoli. A Selection of poems from three collections was recently published in Italian by Casa Grande press. He is the editor and co-translator of Derek Walcott’s Selected Poems first published in Greek by Kastaniotis Editions in 2007. His third collection of poems about the Black Sea Greeks and their exodus from that region in the 1920’s is forthcoming in the fall of 2012 from Sheep Meadow Press.
