Sky Girl by Rosemary Griggs

The following is a poem from Sky Girl by Rosemary Griggs, published by Fence Books in January 2004.

DEN-EWR

September 21, 2001

Kimberlie and the pilot.

Are you afraid to fly now?

Do you know the wildebeests on the Discovery
Channel?

No.

You know, they get to a place where they have to
cross the crocodile infested river and there is no
other way to go so they all run across at the same
time knowing a few of them will be eaten but the
majority of them will make it.

I'm flying now but I'm frightened.

I'm arranging packets of sugar.

Imagine how the wildebeests feel.
