Priscilla Kinter

Priscilla Kinter is a writer living and working Minneapolis, where she inhabits a creaky house with her daughter. Her work has appeared in South Loop Review, Dislocate, Fourth River, and Midway Journal. Her essay “The Myth of the Prose Poem” will appear in Sentence 8, Spring 2011. Although she seems to have taken permanently to the city, and stresses that she cannot live without high-speed Internet access, Priscilla grew up in the country and longs for dark nights, fireflies, and chickens. She addresses this by camping and stargazing with her daughter, fossil hunting, watching the local hawks and wild turkeys, and putting creek water under the microscope. Priscilla holds a BA in anthropology and archaeology, and an MFA from the Creative Writing Program at the University of Minnesota. She has taught creative writing at the University of Minnesota and the Loft Literary Center, and is currently a writer at Minnesota' Public Radio's The Writer's Almanac and the Nonfiction Editor for Midway Journal.
