Author's Bio

I am the author of Thirtha (Yuganta Press, 2002, Behind Dark Waters (Plain View Press, 2008), Draw Me Inmost (Stockport Flats, 2009)and trace (Finishing Line Press, 2011). My poems have appeared in many journals and on-line publications in the United States, Canada, and India. I have performed my poems internationally, most recently in the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival. My essays have appeared in the Writer's Chronicle, Journal of Postcolonial Writing, The Women’s Studies Quarterly and in anthologies of literature, culture and politics. I am currently the poet laureate of Suffolk County, Long Island (2013-15). I have been selected to read at the Mamilla literary festival at the Mohammad Darwish Foundation in Ramallah, September 7-9, 2013.
