Daily News

Online Only, posted 6.17.09

Penguin Group recently unveiled a new portion of its Web site called From the Publisher's Office that presents a range of multimedia features promoting the publisher's titles. The new "Web network" contains content that was created, recorded and produced by Penguin editors and staff specifically for the site. Features include the Screening Room, where visitors can watch promotional author videos; the Radio Room, which includes audio interviews with authors and Penguin editors, readings of Penguin titles, and a weekly audio poem; and the Reading Room, where visitors can read samples of recently published books and communication directly with authors during regularly scheduled chat sessions.

Updated seasonly, the site currently features an audio interview with Jane Austen scholar Juliette Wells about "Austenmania, what it means to be a Janeite, etiquette in Austen's time, and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," sample pages of David Beinoff's City of Thieves, Michael Pollan's In Defense of Food, and Aleksandar Hemon's Love and Obstacles, and audio poems by Ann Lauterbach, Lawrence Raab, and others.
