Omer Tarin

Author's Bio

I am a poet, writer and research scholar with several published volumes (including 4 volumes of poetry) based out of Pakistan, South Asia and travel around regularly. I have been a university lecturer and taught graduate and postgraduate poetry courses and also give frequent readings of my poetry at various literary and public workshops, seminars and other functions, too. Although I am always happy to interact with any groups, I am especially keen on working with school children, teenagers and young adults, in particular those who are recent immigrants and/or from ethnic minorities. More detailed information, interviews, reviews of my work etc, are available on the 'Net and I'm adding only my basic Wikipedia entry here,as an introduction.

Publications and Prizes

Books:
A Sad Piper (Leo Books, 1994)
Prizes:
I refuse to accept any literary prizes as a matter of principle, although I have over the last 17-18 years been nominated for several in Pakistan, India, Japan, Germany, Turkey and Italy. I wish to practice my art unencumbered by the competitiveness engendered by 'awardmanship'. : }
