Lorraine Caputo

Lorraine Caputo is a travel writer, poet, translator and artist who has journeyed the length and breadth of the Americas for over three decades. Her literary works appear in English and Spanish in over 400 journals on six continents; 23 chapbooks; 40 anthologies; and five recordings, including Latin Nights / Latina Noches (Dimby, 2000). Caputo also has done more than 200 literary readings from Alaska to Patagonia, and is a prize-winning slam poet. She co-founded performance artist collectives and organized events in several US states. She has translated the works of Uruguayan poet Cristina Rodríguez Cabral, among other writers. Through these expressions, Lorraine Caputo teaches, affirms and inspires, creating bridges of understanding between cultures, between pueblos.

Lorraine Caputo es escritora de viajes, poeta, traductora y artista y desde hace más de tres décadas recorre el continente americano a lo largo y a lo ancho. Su obra literaria aparece en inglés y español en más de 400 revistas en Canadá, EE.UU., Latinoamérica, Europa, África, Asia y Australia; 23 poemarios; 40 antologías y cinco grabaciones, entre ellas Latin Nights / Latina Noches (Dimby, 2000). Caputo ha participado en más de 200 encuentros de lectura literaria, desde Alaska hasta la Patagonia y fue premiada en concursos de poesía conocidos como “poetry slam”. Es co fundadora de colectivos de artistas de performance art o arte en vivo y organizó eventos en varios estados de EE.UU. Tradujo al inglés la obra de la poeta uruguaya Cristina Rodríguez Cabral, entre otras. A través de estas expresiones, Lorraine Caputo enseña, afirma e inspira, la creación de puentes entendimiento entre culturas, entre pueblos.
