Julia Fierro is the author of Cutting Teeth, a novel, to be released by St. Martin’s Press on May 13, 2014, and available for preorder now.
Her writing has been published, or is forthcoming, in Guernica Magazine, The Millions, Poets & Writers, Flavorwire, and other publications, and she has been profiled in the L Magazine, Brooklyn Magazine, The Observer and The Economist.
In 2002, Julia founded The Sackett Street Writers’ Workshop, and what started as eight writers meeting in her Brooklyn kitchen has grown into a creative home for over 2000 writers.
She continues to teach the Post-MFA Workshop and Advanced Novel-Writing Workshop at Sackett Street, and edits novel manuscripts for select students. Manuscripts Julia has recently edited include novels and story collections published by Riverhead, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Harper Collins and other presses.
Julia is a graduate of The Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where she was a Teaching-Writing Fellow and worked with Marilynne Robinson, Francine Prose, Lan Samantha Chang, Ethan Canin, Frank Conroy and Chris Offutt.
She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, writer Justin Feinstein, and their two children.
