Ishmael von Heidrick-Barnes

Author's Bio

Ishmael Von Heidrick-Barnes is an international, award winning poet and editor. He has college degrees in Religion and Theology at the University and Surgical Technology at. He has worked and studied with Dr. Sam Hamod and the late Linda Brown. In 2008, Ishmael collaborated with German artist Roger Rigorth in a show entitled, "Personal Geography," at LA Art Core. His writings have been translated into German and Spanish. Ishmael has also written lyrics for European opera singer Andrea (Hoerkens)Roderburg and musician Thomas Roderburg. The duo, known as Tender Art,has released two CDs: The 2011, CD, ILLUMINATION, and the 2016, CD, NUANCES OF SOUND. Ishmael's book, INTIMATE GEOGRAPHY: POEMS, won the 2012 San Diego Book Award for Published Poetry. Editor of the 2012, MAGEE PARK POETS anthology which won the 2013, San Diego book award for best collection of poetry. Ishmael won his first poetry prize at age 18 through the San Diego Unified School District. He has won awards from the University of San Diego, The San Diego Public Library, and the 101 Encinitas Artist Colony.
