Grace C. Ocasio won the honorable mention prize in the 2012 James Applewhite Poetry Prize competition. She won the Sonia Sanchez and Amiri Baraka Prize in Poetry in 2011. She was a finalist for the Rash Award in Poetry in 2010 and a scholarship recipient to the 2011 Napa Valley Writers' Conference.
