This program has a professional focus on writing and publishing, incorporating internships with publications, publishers, writers, and agents. It features several independent study courses, including the Book Proposal, Reported Memoir, and Fieldwork in Nonfiction, all of which are taught by writing and publishing professionals. Students may participate in the annual trip to New York City to meet with agents and editors.

Students attend two weeklong residencies, in July at the Goucher College campus in Baltimore, and in January in New York City.

The application deadline for summer is May 12, and for fall the deadline is August 4.
