I was pleased to be the kick-off event at this brand new library's ambitious Poetry Month schedule for community members of all ages. The organizers did a tremendous job of publicity and outreach, and fielded a turn-out in their small rural town of Copake, New York that would have been the envy of many long established poetry venues in Manhattan. People came from Albany, New York City, Massachusetts, and everywhere in between. It was a great celebration of poetry and left everyone inspired—including me! The great success of this program whose theme was Rural Poetry, will ensure that the library will host similar events in future years.
