Derek Updegraff writes short stories and poems of a mostly formal nature. He attended Cal State Long Beach (B.A. & M.F.A.) and the University of Missouri (M.A. & Ph.D.), studying fiction, poetry, linguistics, and medieval literature. He started a new B.F.A. program in Creative Writing at California Baptist University in Riverside, set to launch in the fall of 2015.
