Chip Livingston

Author's Bio

Chip Livingston is a gay, mixed blood Creek writer, uncle, and author of three books: two poetry collections, CROW-BLUE, CROW-BLACK and MUSEUM OF FALSE STARTS; and a forthcoming collection of short stories, NAMING CEREMONY. His poetry, fiction, and nonfiction appear in Ploughshares, Court Green, New American Writing, The Cincinnati Review, The Potomac Review, and Subtropics, and the anthologies, Best New Poets 2005, Stories from the Blue Moon Café, and Sing: Poetry of the Indigenous Americas. He received his M.F.A. in poetry from Brooklyn College, his MA in fiction from University of Colorado, and has been awarded residencies at Wildacres and Soul Mountain retreats. He has received awards from the Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytellers, Arch and Bruce Brown Foundation, and Native Writers’ Circle of the Americas, as well as three Pushcart Prize nominations. He currently lives in Montevideo, Uruguay, from where he edits and teaches writing online. In 2014 Chip joins the low-rez MFA faculty at Institute of American Indian Arts.
