Author's Bio

HIS MOTHER'S SON was translated into French and German, was a Booksense and Literary Guild selection, and it won the Ken Kesey Award for the Novel in 2003. Of THE STYLIST Booklist said: “With family relations as twisted as a French braid and language as vivid as a platinum dye job, Emmons’ potent novel features magnetic characters and complex and compelling secrets.” Emmons’ short work has appeared in Arts and Letters, Narrative Magazine, The New York Post, and Portland Monthly, among others, and she has a selection in NOW WRITE: WRITING EXERCISE FROM TODAY'S BEST WRITERS AND TEACHERS(Tarcher Publications, 2006). She received her B.A. from Yale University, an M.F.A in Film from New York University (her thesis film won a Student Academy Award), and an M.F.A. in Fiction from the University of Oregon. Since 2002 she has been teaching in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Oregon.
