The 2014 Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference was held from August 13 to August 23 in the Green Mountains of Ripton, Vermont. The conference included workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as lectures, craft classes, meetings with editors and agents, and readings by faculty and guests. The faculty included poets Eavan Boland, Marianne Boruch, Michael Collier, Kate Daniels, A. Van Jordan, David Rivard, Alan Shapiro, and Natasha Trethewey; fiction writers Andrea Barrett, Maud Casey, Percival Everett, Ursula Hegi, Victor LaValle, Margot Livesey, Josip Novakovich, C. E. Poverman, Danzy Senna, and Luis Alberto Urrea; and creative nonfiction writers Jane Alison, Scott Russell Sanders, and David Shields. Tuition was $2,935, which included lodging and meals. The fee for auditors who did not have a manuscript was $2,810. Financial aid was available. Writers submitted up to 10 pages of poetry or up to 6,000 words of prose with a $15 application fee by March 1. Call, e-mail, or visit the website for more information.
