Alyce Miller

Author's Bio

I was born in Switzerland where my father was lead tenor with the Zurich Opera House. Raised in several different cities in Michigan and Ohio, I spent most of my adult life on the West Coast in the Bay Area. After many "odd jobs" and an itinerant trajectory, I led a "double (though more or less respectable) life" as an animal rights attorney, and English professor and writer. I have left the university where I taught and am heading to the Washington, D.C. metro area. My writing life is that of the shadow self. My more visible life is consumed with gardening,social- justice issues, politics, companion animals, etc. My favorite classes to teach involve special topics: e.g., animals and ethics, critical race theory, point of view, the literary hoax, detective novels, the novella, etc.
