Originally from New Mexico, Chloë Joan López studied physics at Harvard University and earned an M.A. in poetry from the Writing Seminars at The Johns Hopkins University.
My recent poetry collection, THE VERMEER SUITE (Wind Ridge Books, 2015), features poems inspired by paintings of 17th Century master Johannes Vermeer. The book has beautiful prints of the paintings alongside the poems. Recent poetry also includes KIN (WRB, 2013), prompted by encounters with Vermont wildlife and fueled by folklore. Lake Studies: Meditations on Lake Champlain(2011) and a companion audiobook on CD, The Inland Sea, are based on discoveries of marine scientists, first-hand experience, interviews with divers, history and native lore that reveal mysteries of what lies beneath the surface of the lake. Shipwrecks, ancient fish, myth and legend inform these poems. (See website to read and listen.) Other books: KISSING THE GROUND: New & Selected Poems (1999. My work has appeared in Poetry, New Letters, Poetry Ireland, Prairie Schooner, The Iowa Review, American Poetry Review, North American Review, North Dakota Quarterly, South Dakota Review, Nimrod, The Southern Review, The Louisville Review, and many other literary journals. (See website also for a list of past readings, domestic and international.)
