Mike Schneider began writing poetry in the early 1970s, when he published an anti-war “underground” newspaper at an air force base in Ohio. In Pittsburgh since the mid-70s, he’s been a lawyer, teacher, activist and award-winning freelance writer. His poems have appeared in many journals, including Hunger Mountain, Notre Dame Review, Shenandoah, New Ohio Review and Poetry. In 2012 he received the Editors Award in Poetry from The Florida Review. In 2004 he published a chapbook, Rooster (Main Street Rag Editor's Choice), and more recent work won the 2016 Robert Phillips Chapbook Prize (selected by Richard Foerster) from Texas Review Press, which in 2017 will publish his collection How Many Faces Do You Have?
