Award winning DRAWING THE LINE ~ A PASSIONATE LIFE, a memoir, 2011; BOX OF LIGHT~CAJA DE LUZ is a bilingual book of poetry with drawings, 2008; STONE MUSIC- THE ART AND POETRY OF SUSAN GARDNER, an overview of both visual work and poetry, 2007; INTIMATE LANDSCAPES, a chapbook, 1998. My artwork has been shown internationally in Asia, Mexico and Europe as well as the United States and Canada, with individual exhibitions in museums and galleries and participation in numerous group shows. I have presented programs at the Freer Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution, the Library of Congress, the Folger Library, Univ of Pennsylvania, and Swarthmore College among many others. Invited to deliver the Cam Memorial Lecture at the New York Public Library, I was also honored to be granted a year in the Allen Room.
Jennifer Givhan was a PEN/Rosenthal Emerging Voices Fellow and a recipient of a 2015 NEA in poetry, as well as the 2013 DASH Literary Journal Poetry Prize winner, the 2015 Blue Mesa Review second-prize winner, an Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize finalist, and a 2014 Prairie Schooner Book Prize finalist for her collection Karaoke Night at the Asylum. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College, her Master’s in English from Cal State Fullerton, and her work has appeared in eighty literary journals and anthologies, including Best New Poets 2013, Prairie Schooner, Indiana Review, Rattle, The Collagist, cream city review, and The Columbia Review.
