Creative Nonfiction Writer, Poet
St. Paul, MN
Ann loves traveling, especially the strangeness of being an outsider in a tiny town and the disorientation of exploring foreign countries. She’s shy but relishes the rush of doing the things that scare her. While in law school, she studied poetry writing with Robert Hass. She currently teaches law at Hamline University in St. Paul. Her poetry has been widely published in journals and anthologies, including Rattle, Clackamas Literary Review, and Wisconsin Review, and she has been nominated for both a Pushcart Prize and a Best of the Net Award. She also has read in New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis, and elsewhere. tcCreativePress of Los Angeles published her first chapbook in 2010 and Green Fuse Press of Loveland, Colorado published her second chapbook in 2013.
Ryan Vine’s work has appeared in The American Poetry Review, Ploughshares, the Minneapolis Star Tribune and twice on National Public Radio’s The Writer’s Almanac. His honors include a Weldon Kees Award for his chapbook, Distant Engines (Backwaters Press, 2006), The Greensboro Review‘s Robert Watson Poetry Prize, a McKnight/ARAC Career Development Grant and he has been a finalist or nominee for numerous others: the Pushcart Prize, the Black Warrior Review Poetry Prize, the J. Erskine Poetry Prize from Smartish Pace and the May Swenson Poetry Award for a book-length manuscript from Utah State University Press.
