My collection HUMAN BEING SONGS: Northern Stories will be published by the University of Alaska Press in its Alaska Literary Series in February 2017. The collection was selected as a finalist in 2015 and 2016 for the G.S. Sharat Chandra Prize for Fiction from BkMk Press at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Steven Blythe enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1998. He is a career sailor and the recipient of the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal for his service in 2003. His other military awards include four Achievement Medals with the Operational device and two Antarctic service medals. He lives wherever the Coast Guard sends him, which is currently Norfolk VA. He has two children, Evan and Olivia, who he loves.
Gerri Brightwell is a British writer living in Alaska with her husband and sons. She has two published novels: Cold Country (Duckworth, 2003) and The Dark Lantern (Crown, 2008). Her writing has also appeared (or is forthcoming) in The Guardian (UK), BBC Radio 4, Redivider, Camera Obscura, Camas, Word Riot, Bound-Off, Bartleby Snopes, BLIP, the Dirty Napkin and The Long Story. She teaches in the M.F.A. programme at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
