Next Event

Join us for a day-long event at Chicago's Instituto Cervantes as we explore the writer's journey from inspiration to publication. We'll kick things off with a "poetry keynote" by acclaimed poet Li-Young Lee, followed by panel discussions on resources for writers in Chicago; how to prepare the perfect pitch to agents, editors, and other publishing professionals; tips for savvy self-publishing; and the ins and outs of the editor-author relationship; as well as breakout sessions with New York City agents Jeff Kleinman and Renée Zuckerbrot and Poetry magazine editor Don Share; craft talks with poet Roger Reeves, novelist Edward Kelsey Moore, and essayist Jenny Boully; live-lit performances by Megan Stielstra, Parneshia Jones, and Lindsay Hunter; and much more. A highlight of the program will be a reading and discussion with Chicago literary icons Stuart Dybek and Marc Kelly Smith. We'll top it all off with a Literary Mixer—a chance to meet others, share notes, and enjoy a glass of wine with your fellow writers.
