I grew up in Connecticut. I now live in Tucson, Arizona and Grand Manan, New Brunswick, Canada. Formerly Director of the University of Arizona Poetry Center, I'm now Professor and Director of Creative Writing at UA. I'm affiliated with the Institute of the Environment here and also Chair of the Board of Directors for Orion magazine. A new nonfiction book is forthcoming from Milkweed Editions.

Dr. Anna Faktorovich is the Director of Anaphora Literary Press, which has published over 50 titles, and is a member of the Independent Book Publishers Association and the Council of Editors of Learned Journals. Her Rebellion as Genre in the Novels of Scott, Dickens and Stevenson has been published with McFarland in February 2013. Her new book, Formulaic Writing within Genres, is under contract with McFarland for completion in August, 2013. She published two poetry collections Improvisational Arguments (Fomite Press, 2011) and Battle for Athens (Anaphora, 2012). She also published one poetic children’s book for which she did 30 illustrations, The Sloths and I (Anaphora, 2013). She also published three editions of the Book Production Guide, which gives advice on editing, design and marketing for writers and publishers. She has been editing and writing for the independent, tri-annual and peer-reviewed Pennsylvania Literary Journal since 2009; it is available on EBSCO, ProQuest and in print. She has conducted many interviews with best-selling and critically acclaimed editors, writers and filmmakers, including Anne Rice.

Michael Gessner received his undergraduate degree in English literature from Wayne State University in Detroit; master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Colorado, Boulder and an appointment as an Andrew Mellon Professor to the University of Arizona, and later served as a division chair, and developed the Honors Program at Central Arizona College. Twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize, he has been a finalist and semi-finalist in various competitions including "Discovery"/The Nation, and the Pablo Neruda Award, and has given readings and presentations at state poetry societies and organizations; to chapters of the AAUW, nursing facilities, Casa Libre en la Solana, colleges and universities in PA, NY, CO, CA, AZ, University College Dublin, the American-Irish Historical Society, (NYC), and Cambridge University. His reviews and articles have been published by Allyn & Bacon, C.V. Mosby, Times-Mirror, The Edgar Allan Poe Review, The English Journal, Gray's Sporting Journal, Jacket2 and The Kappan. He served as creative writing judge for the National Council Teachers of English, and for La Roca, Florence State Penitentiary; assisted in establishing writing programs for the gifted and talented at the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Ganado, AZ. His work has been called "Structurally ingenious", Jonathan Galassi, (Farrar, Straus & Giroux), and poems from BEAST BOOK were found to be "Lively and smart and musicial", (Robert Pinsky). Michael lives in Tucson with his wife, son Chris, and family dog, "Irish".
