Tony Barnstone is The Albert Upton Professor of English at Whittier College. Born in Middletown, Connecticut, and raised in Bloomington, Indiana, Barnstone lived for years in Greece, Spain, Kenya and China before taking his Masters in English and Creative Writing and Ph.D. in English Literature at U.C. Berkeley. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley and is also a distinguished translator of Chinese poetry and literary prose. He is also an editor of several world literature literary textbooks. His poetry, translations, essays on poetics, and fiction have appeared in dozens of American literary journals, from APR to Poetry.
