Bio: 

Millicent Borges Accardi, a Portuguese-American writer,  has received fellowships from CantoMundo, National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), California Arts Council, Fulbright Foundation, Fundação Luso-Americana (FLAD), the Foundation of Comtemporary Arts (FCA: Covid emergency artist grant), the Barbara Deming Foundation (Money for Women).  

She is the author of  four poetry collections: Through a Grainy Landscape (New Meridian Arts, 2021),  Only More So (Salmon Poetry, Ireland 2016),  Injuring Eternity (Mischievous Muse 2010),  Quarantine Highway (FlowerSong Press, 2022), and a chapbook, "Woman on a Shaky Bridge" (FLP 2010).  She organizes the popular Kale Soup for the Soul literary reading series (Portuguese-American writers reading work about family, food and culture). She is a Poetry Mentor in AWP's Writer to Writer and Adroit  Journal's Summer programs.

Her poetry and non-fiction has appeared widely including New American Writing, Nimrod, Tampa Review, Laurel Review, TAB, New Letters and the AWP Writers Chronicle. She lives in Topanga, CA and telecommutes as a freelance writer.  Residencies include Yaddo, Jentel, Vermont Studio Center, with international residenices: Fundación Valparaíso (Mojacar, Spain), Disquiet in Lisbon, Portugal and Milkwood in Cesky Krumlov, CZ.

Additional awards include SOPA (Portuguese American Heritage), Congressional Recognition award for literature, 2018,  Creative Capacity Quick Grant in 2013,  Center for Cultural Innovation grants, 2014, 2012,  Injuring Eternity received an Honorable Mention at the Latino Book Awards in 2012 and Quarantine Highway in 2023.
