Bio: 

My poems, essays, and translations have appeared in magazines such as Poetry, The New Republic, The Paris Review, The Times Literary Supplement, Slate, Beloit Poetry Journal, Agni, Poetry Daily, The Brooklyn Rail, and Harvard Review, where I was Poetry Editor for Issues 19 and 20. My set of four poems riffing on the films of Tom Hanks was awarded the first Boston Review Poetry Prize, and and my book Crucible was published by Other Press in 2002. I have published translations of poems by Friedrich Holderlin, Eugenio Montale and César Vallejo. My critical writing has appeared in The Daily Beast, The Paris Review Daily, Partisan Review, Berfrois, The Rumpus, Contemporary Poetry Review, The Fortnightly Review, and 3:AM Magazine. For eight years I was director of Writing & Publishing at Walnut Hill School for the Arts. I have taught writing at Emory University, Boston University, Harvard University, and Tufts University.
