I have been on the faculty of the University of Alaska, Anchorage's low-residency MFA program, specializing in literary memoir. I also teach for the Mountain Writers' Series in Portland, OR, and in the UK and Spain. Recently visiting writer for
Eastern Oregon University MFA students.

2012 Gregory O'Donoghue Prize (Cork Spring Poetry Festival, Ireland). Robin Becker Chapbook Contest (2008) for "Lost Lands." Lambda Literary Award, 2000, for "Lifesaving: A Memoir." Finalist for the PEN/Martha Albrand Award for the Art of the Memoir, for "Lifesaving: A Memoir". Winner of The Dulwich Festival International Poetry Contest.
