Bio: 

Helen Engelhardt is a poet, writer, storyteller and independent audio artist and producer.

Since 1971 her poems have been published in numerous magazines: Latitude 30 18’, International Poetry Review, Dark Horse, Sunrust, Mixed Voices, Bitterroot.

She has performed her poetry as a featured reader in various venues: galleries, street festivals, bars, cafes, Book Gatherings at B.A.C.A.’s Downtown Cultural Center, on the radio. In 1980 she co-produced the Solstice to Solstice Poetry Reading Series for the Poet’s Union of Brooklyn which was sponsored by the NYS Council of the Arts.

Established in 2007, her company, Midsummer Sound Company, has produced three audio documentaries aired on National Public Radio Stations.

She is a Board Member and frequent contributor to Jewish Currents Magazine. Her most recent article, Muriel's Gift: Rukeyser's Poems on Jewish Themes was published in JC's Summer 2015 issue.

Special Commendation in the Arvon Foundation International Poetry Competition of 1985.

First Prize HEmingway Days Storytelling Competition Key West, FL.

Two audio books : Edges O Israel O Palestine by Leora Skolkin-Smith, narrated by Tovah Feldshuh which was given an Earphone Award by Audiofile Magazine and The Longest Night: A Personal History of Pan Am Flight 103, which was one of five audiobooks produced in 2010 nominated for an Audie as Best Original.
