Bio: 

Poet/performance artist Davida Singer has published two full collections of poetry, shelter island poems (Canio Editions) and Port of Call (Plain View Press, 2012), and a chapbook, naked romance and then some (Aldrich Press, 2015). She often reads combining spoken word with jazz and klezmer music. Her multimedia projects include Naked Romance with composer John Rangel and Swiss artist Nicole Schmoelzer, and Khupe with composer/trumpeter Frank London, bassist Ken Filiano, and others. Her work has been performed on the stages of The Kitchen, HERE Arts Center, SVA Theatre (NYC), GiG Performance Space (Santa Fe), and The Harwood Museum of Art and SOMOS (Taos NM). Davida is the recipient of four fellowships from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, in Taos, New Mexico and was featured at the 2010 SOMOS Summer Writers Series. Her poems have appeared in Feminist Studies, The Little Magazine, Response, Sinister Wisdom, and Chokecherries Anthology, among others. A theater journalist, she was a contributing writer to The Villager and Gay City News for 13 years. Currently, she teaches creative writing and literature at Hunter College and School of Visual Arts in New York City. She also runs a private creative writing workshop & does one on one tutorials.
